Squad Update

We can confirm the following departures from Hamilton Academical WFC following the close of the 2021 / 2022 season:

Georgie McTear, Fiona Cullie, Nichola Sturrock and Jade Lindsay.

Central defender Georgie signed from Glasgow Women in 2020 and went on to make 40 appearances for us scoring 4 goals, perhaps most memorably in a midweek at Partick Thistle after a mazy run through the centre of the pitch.

George was a key part of the side that was promoted back into SWPL 1 in summer 2021 and was one of the standout players in the 8-game run with a particularly dominant performance in Aberdeen in a must win match.

Fiona leaves after 17 appearances and scoring her first goal for the club in this seasons Scottish Cup against Inverness. The popular midfielder, who can also play at left back, has played at every level at the club and we note her length of service and dedication to Hamilton Academical in that time.

Nichola leaves to focus on a promising coaching career having made 48 appearances for Accies. Not shy to the spectacular, arguably her most memorable moment will be the midweek screamer against Kilmarnock from all of 30 yards into the top corner after a spin away from the defender.

Jade returned to the club for her second spell in red and white at the end of 2021 but has made the decision to focus on her career in the Emergency Services at present.

We wish all four players the very best in their future endeavours and look forward to welcoming them all back either as a member of the opposition, a former player or simply as supporter.
